Obituary for Jesse C. Jones

Jesse C. Jones
Jesse Clyde Jones was born September 24, 1921 in Arkansas. He was 1 of 6 children born to Emma Willingham-Jones and Sam Jones. He met and fell in love with Lucy S. Bohanon in Monroe, LA where they were married, and shortly thereafter they moved to Oakland, CA. Through that union they gave birth to 9 children. As a resident of Oakland, CA he was a welder by trade for 32yrs. at Hunters Point San Francisco Naval Ship Yard. He transferred to Portsmouth, VA, and worked at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard continuing his occupation as a welder. The family was blessed with 4 additional sons. He relocated to Wilmington, DE, and transferred his job to the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard retiring from his career as a welder.

He enjoyed watching wrestling on TV, and he loved Cowboy shows. One of his favorite pastimes was playing checkers with family and friends. He enjoyed going to the Salvation Army Senior Center and the Saint Patrick’s Senior Center where he socialized, participated in activities such as pool and checkers. He loved his family dearly, and would go out of his way to make sure they were taken care of. He enjoyed reading the bible and would recite scriptures on occasion to his grandchildren encouraging them in the word. He started attending Revival Fellowship Church in 2012 with his family, and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He is survived by his sister, Louise Bush (Indianapolis, IN); 13 children, Dixie E. Gardner (Phillip Gardner), Patricia K. Macklin (William Macklin), Pamela Johnson (Darnell Johnson), Sheila Moore, Gwendolyn Chapman (Ernest Chapman), Kevin C. Jones, Sr., Gregory Jones, Sr. , Lester T. Jones, Sr. (Marion Jones), Devoria Gordon (Jimmy Gordon), Malik Smith, David Jones, Charles E. Jones and Toshombia Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Our Beloved Father Jesse C. Jones, Sr. was well loved and will be greatly missed.
