Obituary for James L. Tucker
James, the eleventh child of the late Hallie and Nollie Tucker, was born on Sept. 11, 1944, in Halifax, VA. James left Virginia at an early age and, just as most of his other family, settled in Newark, DE. James attended the public schools in Newark.
James worked for a variety of industrial companies in Newark. He was a long-term employee of Motor Wheel Corp. where he began as a machine operator, and eventually promoted to Quality Control Inspector and then to Supervisor. After receiving his license as a commercial driver, James drove trucks for several commercial businesses, until his retirement.
James' mother, a long-time Christian and Evangelist, showed him the way to the Lord. James says "When the Lord came to me, I went straight to my Mom. He was anointed by God and called to preach at the age of 24." The happiest times of James' life was when he and his mom travelled to different churches together to spread the word of God. James would forever cherish the memory of how proud his mom was of him. James was also one of his father's favorite. James was married to Signoria for 27 years. Their daughter, Chevone, was the "apple of their eyes."
James later married Michelle Dennison. They shared their life together for more than 20 years. The love between them was undeniable and Michelle was very devoted to James until the end.
James leaves to cherish his memory his wife Michelle, 2 children Chevone (Bishop Michael Franklin), and Bilaal Jackson (Sanaa); 3 step-children., four grand-children, 8 sisters and brothers (Mattie, Liz, Rosa, Ann, Larry, Phyllis, Earlean, Andrew), devoted Mother-in-Law, many in- laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
