Obituary for Katherine Annette Williams
Katherine A. Williams was born on July 17, 1950 in Chester, Pennsylvania, to the late James and Annie Lash. From this union, she was the youngest of three children.
She was formally educated in the Chester Upland School District.
She later met and married Sam Williams, Sr. From this union, three beautiful children were born: Cassandra Williams (Randallstown, Maryland), Chevelle T. Lampkin (Gwynn Oak, Maryland) and Samuel Williams, Jr. (Chester, Pennsylvania).
Katherine was a natural born leader. She held various supervisory positions during her 42 years of employment with Crozer-Keystone Health Systems before retiring in 2010. She was also a successful businesswoman. She owned and operated Unique Styles for over a decade. Katherine lived by the mantra, “Let the work I’ve done speak for me.” She believed that we should help each other using whatever resources we have, whether it’s time, influence, finances, or service. Dedicated to public service, Katherine served as a councilwoman for Chester Township for 17 years.
At an early age, she was taught to accept and serve God. She later joined First Pentecostal Holy Church in 1998, and continued to be an active member until her illness. Katherine enjoyed shopping, gardening and vacations with family. She was passionate about her loved ones and enjoyed spending time with friends. She will be remembered for her jovial spirit and the ability to brighten any situation.
She leaves to mourn: her husband, Sam Williams, Sr.; three children, Cassandra, Chevelle (Foster), and Samuel; two grandchildren; Kayla S. Lawson and Amirah Lampkin; two sisters, Judith A. Hall (Donald) and Jennifer Potter; one brother, Joseph Potter; devoted in-laws,Florence Glascoe, Brown Williams (Barbara), Joseph Williams (Linda), Martha James (Joseph), Carrie Miller (Jeff), Eleanor Thomas (Arnold), Katherine (Danny), Charles (Marie); aunt, Barbara Lash; cousins Don Lash and John A. Lash as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
